I turned 22 this week. As I looked back on my 21st year of life, I realised a lot had changed and I'd gone through a lot. What I don't remember from these changes is the heartbreak, the sadness, the uncertainty, the anxiety. What do I remember? The results of these changes and how God taught me through each of them.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. - Genesis 50:20
Since the beginning of time, God has seen His people focus so heavily on the negativity in their situation, yet every time He brings something good from it. Every challenge and trial is an opportunity for God to show His ultimate power and control by using what the world meant for evil and turned it to good.
Your mind may automatically go to God bringing what you want to result to be to reality. You may think that God's goodness through evil situations means complete healing, restoration and freedom in the eyes of the world. Sometimes this is the case, and God's glory is magnified to the world through this. But other times, the good results are more subtle and now what we were expecting.
What I'm talking about is His revelations to us through difficult circumstances. I've seen this through my life, and especially in my last year as I'd endured many changes in my life.
There are three things God can use circumstances to teach us about - His character, our character or the world's character.
Personally, God used my situation of losing the majority of my friends this year to show me His character that He is my ultimate best friend, my character of relying too much on my earthly friends and the worlds character which says quantity is better that quality of people around you (which isn't the case).
There are so many other examples I can speak about. But it's all encouraged me, and I'm praying you as well, that God truly turns all things for good, even if it's in ways we can't comprehend in the moment or what isn't what the world would determine as a good outcome.
